Welcome to my Pioneer Graves Project site. This is a collection of photos I've taken over the years in the old, sometimes neglected cemeteries of the Western U.S. mining towns. Most are from the gold towns in California along Highway 49, but there are also many from the deserts, Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains, and a few other states. Only two tombstones remain within the grounds. The village evolved with William M. Weaver Rose Springs House,a roadside way station that was established on the original Sacramento to Coloma Road between 1850 and 1853. Located nearby the roadhouse were a school, tavern, stable, blacksmith shop and butcher shop. At this place weddings were held, babies were born, and our pioneer residents died. Please help us preserve this sacred and historic place for future generations to appreciate.
