Pioneer Graves

Bodie, a California State Park, is one of the best preserved ghost towns in California. The state maintains it in a state of "arrested decay" as they call it. Several "undesirables" (prostitutes, madams, murderers, etc.) were buried in Boot Hill, outside the fence of the cemeteries. All but one of those graves have been lost to time and the elements. Rosa May's is the only one whose location is still known to this day.

Foundry Hill, rising a couple hundred feet above the cemeteries, looks over the town. It is one of the first things visitors see as they enter the park, and the location of a single grave in the town.

There are three main cemeteries on the north end of town (four if you count the Chinese Cemetery, though no sign of that one remains). The Masonic Cemetery is the smallest of the three. All currently marked grave sites are represented here.
